Global Wellbeing Study

The International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford have come together to advance the understanding of the wellbeing of young people in schools across the globe.

Across the world there is a decline in the wellbeing of young people.

Schools are a crucial pathway to support for these young people, but schools need more evidence on how wellbeing develops and what influences wellbeing in young people over time.

Improving the wellbeing of young people is important as an intrinsic good, but also has an impact on their attainment, their future wellbeing, and their future employment and income.

Without high quality data which follows children as they develop we struggle to understand how to improve the lives of young people.

We are working together for the public good to launch a global wellbeing study and freely accessible school wellbeing platform.

The Global Wellbeing (GLOW) Study of Child and Adolescent Wellbeing in Schools and the GLOW School Wellbeing Dashboard are both designed with and for young people and their educators.

Together, they seek to improve the lives of young people and educators by understanding what matters most to them and how we can best support them.

GLOW will serve as the evidence-based operational and inspirational home for schools in their wellbeing journey.

The GLOW study is supported by an interdisciplinary team of leading wellbeing researchers, based at the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford.
